Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below shows reserved time periods - not confirmed exams. Check with your instructor if your course will be taking its final exam within this time.

Locations
The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Please refer to the exam pages for more details regarding exam content, exam terms and conditions, and additional guidelines. If you require special accommodations due to chronic illness, hearing or visual impairment or other disabilities, contact the exam provider and provide detailed documentation when registering.

In addition, the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for courses that have exams required by NYSED regulations. For evening classes, final exams are scheduled during the normal class time during the final week of the exam.
Please note that the Projected University Examination Schedule is provided for a tentative guide and that the dates for the final exam are subject to change.
Registration
Students are encouraged to look up the exam schedule online. It is important to keep in mind that the schedule for exams can change at any time. This is why students should consult with their instructors to ensure that they have the correct date and time for their test. Students should also be sure to print out the official list and bring it to their exam.
In addition to the exam schedule, students must familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines, the terms and conditions. These are on the webpage for each exam. After registering, students acknowledge that they accept these terms and conditions.
Exam sites make every effort to accommodate those with special needs. The nature and severity of these needs should be noted on the registration and confirmed by a physician's attestation. The exam locations must also adhere to confidentiality.
If a student is scheduled to take three exams scheduled for the same day, it is suggested to contact their department or instructor to arrange an exam to make up. It is possible to take three exams on the same day. However, this can result in a lot of stress and affect the quality. Additionally, the professor may not be able to conduct a makeup test on another day.
Students must go through their course materials prior to taking the exam and must practice their German skills. The test is a test on paper that measures the ability to speak, read, and write in German. The test results are reported using a scale from A1 to C2. Students who successfully pass the test receive an Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate documents attainment of the language level A1. This level corresponds to the first stage of the six-level scale of competence laid down in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The test is free. Students must bring a valid government issued ID to the test. Those who do not have an acceptable photo ID are disqualified from the examination.

Fees
You must pay an examination fee for the opportunity to receive the Goethe-Zertifikat (start German 1) after you have completed your Elan Academy studies. This is in addition to the course fee.
Practice tests allow you to get familiar with the format, wording, and difficulty of the questions on the test. They allow you to assess your level, discover gaps in your knowledge and increase your chances of passing the test.
Please note that the exam fee is non-refundable. Exam results can only by emailed and not via telephone.
